DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION PRACTICE AND STANDARDS
The department is composed of five clinical educators that provide clinical support
to our nursing staff for all three shifts. We have a clinical educator assigned
to the off shifts. Our educators are also assigned to all the different nursing
areas. The department provides ongoing nursing educational programs that cater to
the needs of the nursing staff.
Nursing Orientation
We offer a comprehensive and individualized nursing orientation that is tailored
towards the need of the staff. Our Clinical educators coordinate with unit managers
and preceptors to provide individual support and ongoing mentorship to our staff
on all shifts.
Summer Externship Program
EOGH offers an 11weeks paid Nurse Externship program for nursing students entering
their senior year in nursing school. Under the direct supervision of a preceptor,
and the use of the nursing process, you will be exposed to clinical experiences
that will compliment theory done in classroom and help improve your assessment and
critical thinking skills. You will also have the opportunity to familiarize yourself
with the role of the professional nurse in relation to other multidisciplinary care
team.
Internship/Critical Residency program
2 week residency program for critical care alternating classroom work with hands
on or clinical experiences on the unit of your choice
Specialty areas include ICU/CCU, ED, Telemetry, Hemodialysis
Provides a firm foundation and training in area of specialty
Mentoring programs with educators and preceptors every step of the way and on all
shifts

Certification
We offer CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS from our Nursing Education Department and from our
affiliates from EVMTS an affiliate of ESSEX VALLEY HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, INC.
