The Unit serves medical and surgical patients with acute medical conditions and
complications who require critical care services. This unit features highly specialized
cardiac monitoring devices for heart rhythms, in addition to respiratory monitoring
equipment. The staff includes specially-trained registered nurses, cardiac monitor
technicians and nursing assistants.

Visiting hours are from 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., 7-days a week.

Telemetry Unit
The Telemetry Unit is a 30-bed unit which provides cares for patients who no longer
require intensive care treatment, but still need special monitoring. This unit features
highly specialized cardiac monitoring devices for heart rhythms, in addition to
respiratory monitoring equipment so that we can best serve and care for our patients
with coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, pneumonia and other more acute
illnesses. With specialty skilled nurses and technicians, patient's heart rates
and rhythms are monitored 24-hours a day. Additionally, this unit provides care
for those patients who require long-term assisted life support and care for patients
requiring additional close observation.
Hours of Operations:
Located on 5 West of the main hospital building, this unit operates 24-hours a day,
7-days a week all-year round including holidays.

Some patients coming to East Orange General Hospital have illnesses of a more critical
nature or require specialized treatment or monitoring. To best meet these needs,
the Hospital has modern Intensive Care and Telemetry Units. Both units are staffed
with highly-qualified personnel who are specially trained to meet the needs of a
critically ill patient or one who requires specialized treatments.
